Pianist and composer Michelle Grégoire’s music has been described as “ingenious”, “elegant”,  “balanced”,  and “original with great depth and imagination”. She has toured across Canada with her jazz quintet and her music is heard regularly on XM Radio and various jazz programs across North America. An active freelance musician since 1984, Michelle Grégoire maintains a solid reputation as a leader and backup musician having recorded her own music (Diversity and Reaching), and having worked with several artists from across Canada and beyond. Grégoire holds jazz degrees from St. Francis Xavier University (1988, 1990), a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the Florida State University (1993). She has studied with world-renowned composers Maria Schneider, Kenny Wheeler and Bob Brookmeyer. Since the Fall of 2014, Grégoire has been on faculty at Ambrose University in Calgary teaching Jazz Piano.

For the January 3rd performance at the CBM Jazz Series, Michelle will be presenting original compositions and fresh arrangements, and will feature an impressive lineup of local performers with the addition of a special guest from Montréal, guitarist Mike Rud! This promises to be a fantastic evening of beautiful music and stellar performances.
